Rotation-resistant ropes can frequently provide the best and most economical service in specific applications when you choose, handle, and use then properly.
There are different types of rotation-resistant ropes in ASTM A1023, categorized by their resistance to rotation:
CATEGORY 1: has at least 15 outer strands, has three layers of strands (over a center), and has little or no tendency to rotate, or, if guided, transmits little or no torque.
CATEGORY 2: has 10 or more outer strands, has two or more layers of strands (over a center), and has significant rotation-resistance.
CATEGORY 3: has no more then 9 outer strands, has two layers of strands (over a center), and has limited resistance to rotation.
For best performance, Category 2 and 3 should not be used with a swivel. Category 1 rotation-resistant rope may be used with a swivel.
|Alphalift||Hoist rope for electrical hoists and lifting devices with multiple part reeving, twin hoist systems with left and right hand ropes, where rotation resistant ropes are not required.|
|Eurolift||Hoist Rope for mobile cranes, electrical hoists and other applications, where rotation resistant ropes are required. Especially suitable for multiple layer spooling.|
|Starlift Plus||Hoist rope for tower cranes, mobile cranes, electrical hoists and other applications, where rotation resistant ropes are required.|
|Turboplast||Boom hoist rope for mobile cranes, deck cranes and grabs, hoist rope for container cranes, floating cranes, portal cranes, steel mill cranes, etc. In multiple part reeving for smaller lifting heights, twin hoist systems with left and right hand ropes for greater lifting heights, riser tensioner, where rotation resistant ropes are not required.|
|XLT||Under load, XLT generates near-zero torque, matching or surpassing the stability of Category 1 35×7 class rotation-resistant ropes. XLT is not classified as ‘rotation-resistant’ and can be used with or without a swivel as a high mobile crane hoist rope at design factors as as low as 3.5 to 1.|
|Flex-X 35||This Category 1 high performance wire rope has premium rotation and strength properties important in tower crane and other specialized hoisting applications.|
|Flex-X 19||This Category 2 high performance wire rope is highly rotation resistant for crane lifting. Applications also include waterwell drilling and rotary drilling.|
|Flex-X 6||This high performance wire rope has increased service life, stability, and strength. Compacted to minimize drum crushing, the smooth contact reduces interference, metal loss, and wire deformation.|
|Flex-X 9||This boom hoist wire rope for cranes is compacted to minimize drum crushing and maximize stability. Applications also include foundation drilling.|
|7-Flex||We offer 7-Flex ropes for many applications that currently use 6×19 or 6×36 classification wire ropes. Typical applications include: container cranes, logging portal cranes, and sawmill carriages. Increased service life has been reported with the 7-Flex rope.|
|Flex-X 7CC||Flex-X 7CC extended duty and hoist rope is designed and manufactured primarily for the container crane industry where repetitive, continuous operations are required. This wire rope has been proven to operate longer while maintaining its strength.|
